...January Hostess Club Project

This month I wanted to use items from the It's My Party Suite.

After making our Christmas Shaker cards last month I wanted to make another one, because they are so much fun! One thing I have learned about making these is that it is so easy to over-do the contents of the shaker. Less really is more in this case.

I made so many different "prototypes" of this card that it was hard to decide which one to post. And because they are so awesome they went fast to several birthdays I had this month.

For both the outside and inside I used the Party Pop-Up Thinlits Dies (140620). For the outside, instead of using it as a pop-up, I trimmed it from the base of the cardstock.

I also used the It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack (140552) to "trim" the sides of the Melon Mambo and to layer behind Hip Hip Hooray!

The ink colors were Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron & Crushed Curry. The embossing folder is the Confettie Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (140592).


We had so much fun making this card. For me, it was hard to not over-do it.

August Hostess Club Project

I am in looove with this month's hostess club project. I got the inspiration from Patty Bennett at Patty's Stamping Spot.

I was going to write a whole blog post about the tips and tricks to making stamps with Fun Foam and Stampin' Up!'s Thinlits and Framelits but as I was planning it I realized there was too much stuff to put in a single post. So I whipped out the camera a recorded a video.

The video is 20 minutes long, but believe me it's worth it! It is jam packed with information. I will give you the measurements and supplies here though.

July Hostess Club Project

I am truly aware that we don't make near enough men's cards in my classes so I decided that caseing this one from the catalog would be a wonderful idea. The inspiration I started with can be found on page 83 of the 2015/2016 Annual Idea Book & Catalog.

As you can see from the inspiration, they used Crumb Cake Cardstock for the base, but because I wanted to use the new Corrugate Paper, I decided to start with a Basic Black Cardstock base instead. I don't know what Stampin' Up!'s concept artists used to make the splatters on the card. If they didn't use a stamp it's possible they used an aqua painter, picked up some ink and then flicked it on to the card. You can get the same effect by using a toothbrush.

Stampin' Up!'s version uses:

• Basic Black Cardstock & Ink Pad

• Whisper White Baker's Twine

My Version uses:

• Basic Black Cardstock & Ink Pad
• Crumb Cake Corrugate Paper
• Whisper White Cardstock
• Soft Suede Cardstock for the envelope
• Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper - for the envelope liner. I know it doesn't look like it because the stripes aren't at an angle but it is, trust me.
• Envelope Punch Board - Because this card is not a standard size, it's actually 4.25"x4.25".
• Dimensionals, of course.

July Hostess Club Projects

The Thank You card and envelope is inspired by the project on page 145 in the 2014-2015 Idea Book & Catalog. I have loved this project from the moment I set eyes on it. 

It uses Bermuda Bay Classic Ink, Notecards & Envelopes, which can be found on page 194. Let me just mention that these notecards are very thick, and the envelopes are so smooth. The 2 cent postage stamp is from the Postage Due stamp set. Did you know that you can mail decorated envelopes? You can!

The heart card is a sampler of sorts. I was curious how the old Silver Glimmer paper compared to the New Silver Glimmer Paper, and that is how this card got it's start in the creation process. 

Starting at the upper left corner the colors are.... Champagne, Red, Retired Silver; on the second row starting from the left the colors are... New Gold, Dazzling Diamonds, New Silver. I don't think this picture does the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper justice. If you have ever used Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, then you will know that this paper is just as beautiful!

To continue the sampler idea of this card, the silver strip in the middle is the New Silver Foil Paper with a Gold Foil Paper heart. It is not pictured, but on the inside we stamped "Is there no limit to your Awesomeness" from the stamp set Big News on page 68. I absolutely love that saying. Because quite frankly there is no limit..

August Hostess Club Sneak Peek

Some days I'm better at this than others. Here is your Sneak Peek for the August Hostess Club Project.

This project was actually one of the Make & Takes for Convention. There was so much to do this year that I opted to do the Take & Make. What's the difference you ask? Make & Takes are done there at the event. Take & Makes are done when we get home. So I am sharing a piece of my convention experience with you. I hope you like it.

July Hostess Club Project

I am so late in getting this posted for those that didn't get a chance to come. Here are the supplies and basic instructions for July's Hostess Club Project.

Supplies:

• Backyard Basics Stamp Set & Framelits
• Perfectly Penned Stamp Set
• 8-1/2"x5-1/2" Basic Black Cardstock
• 4"x5-1/4" Very Vanilla Cardstock (2 pieces; 1 for the inside)
• 3-3/4"x5" Crumb Cake Cardstock
• Vellum Cardstock
• Very Vanilla Cardstock for sentiment
• Very Vanilla Medium Envelope
• Alphabet Press Embossing Folder
• Deco Labels Collection Framelits - Larges Die
• Apothecary Accents Framelits
• Magazine page
• Cherry Cobbler Classic Stampin' Pad
• Versamark Ink Pad
• Gold Embossing Powder
• Heat Gun
• Glue Dots
• Dimensionals
• Multipurpose Liquid Glue
• Basic Rhinestones

This technique is called Faux Cloisonne. To create this technique you:

• first find a magazine page that has a nice background for your butterfly. 
• Then you stamp the butterfly from Backyard Basics using Versamark Ink two times. 
• Cover the stamped images in gold embossing powder, shaking off the excess onto a piece of paper to be used to return the excess powder to its original container.
• Then heat the powder. You know it's working when you can see the powder turn to glossy.
• After heat embossing the butterflies, roughly trim them from the magazine page. Not too close because you will be using the framelit to cut out the butterfly.
• Using the Backyard Basics butterfly framelit, cut out each butterfly.
• Adhere the 4"x5-1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock pieces to your card. One to the inside and one to the front of the outside. 
• Using the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder and the Big Shot, emboss the Crumb Cake cardstock and adhere to the front of the card using dimensionals, one dimensional in each corner.

• Using the Deco Collections Framelit, cut the shape from the Vellum Cardstock, set aside.
• Stamp your sentiment to the extra piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and cut out using the Apothecary Accents Framelit. Using dimensionals, one on each side, attach it to the middle of the Vellum Cardstock shape you cut out previously. Attach one rhinestone to each end of the cut out on the front.
• Attach 1 glue dot to the back of each butterfly and adhere one to the top (above the sentiment) and one to the bottom (below the sentiment) of the Deco Labels cut out of the Vellum Cardstock.
• Turn the Vellum Cardstock over so the back side is facing up. Adhere one Glue Dot behind each of the butterflies and then place on the Crumb Cake Cardstock. Doing it this way, hides the Glue Dot behind the butterfly.
• In Cherry Cobbler Ink stamp the butterfly to the inside of the card and on the outside of the envelope.

Hostess Club Invitation

It is time again for another round of Hostess Club. What is it, you ask? It's a great time to spend with "the girls", talking, having fun stamping and learning, and purchasing product all while staying within your budget.

As a Hostess Club Member you commit to spending $25 (before tax & shipping) each month, for how ever many months as there are members. So if we have 6 members = 6 months; 10 members = 10 months. During this time you get to be Hostess for 1 of those months. The only thing you have to do as a Hostess is bring a little snack to share. You don't even have to clean house, because the meeting is in my Stampin' Studio every month.

So Much Fun!

One day while I was tidying up I found this wonderful note left by someone who had come to either a Ladies Class or Hostess Class. I honestly don't know when it was because I just saw it one day.

It makes me smile when I see it because it confirms that everyone really is having fun. Never mind that it is evident by the number of ladies that keep coming back and they tell me every time they leave, how much fun they have, it's just nice to see it in print, know what I mean? Just like receiving a card from someone thanking you for something you did. They verbally said it, but it just brings it home when they say it in writing.

I love the ladies who come. That are all so wonderful.  Have you been on the fence about coming to a class? Well, here's your confirmation that we "have so much fun!" I would live to see you at a class. 

Hostess Club Project

Father's Day is coming so I wanted to have a special card for my Hostess Club ladies to have to give to the fathers in their lives. Even if your own dad isn't around you can always honor your husband, son, son-in-law, brother, uncle, well, you get the idea.
